I’m tired

Cassie and I have been baking cookies since Monday. Every evening with the exception of Wednesday, when we took a knitting break. We would meet at 7pm at my place and go until 11pm, or as in the case of Tuesday, past midnight. 7pm is the earliest possible for me to get home, and since my alarm goes off at 5.45am, I cannot stay up all night baking cookies, even if I want to. This is so much more fun than watching TV; which I don’t do anyway.

Cassie (who is momentarily between houses, is on vacation and doesn’t currently have a permanent Internet connection and therefore cannot blog, so give her a break!) was looking for a present for her BF’s mother and boyfriend. Cookies seemed a nice, thoughtful, personal gift for someone you don’t actual know. But she thought she couldn’t bake well enough, particularly since she lacks a kitchen gadget with a paddle attachment. Enter Ja. If somebody says they cannot do something, I’ll do my best to prove them wrong. We made five cookies that ‘required’ a kitchen gadget with paddle attachment without the use of any electricity. It’s called elbow grease. And this is what we had at the end of our marathon baking session.

A lot of cookies. There’s actually some dough in my freezer waiting to be baked. Because everybody loves cookies, here are the close ups.

All the cookies are out of a Martha Stewart Living holiday special publication from a couple of years ago. Cassie picked the following for us to bake:

Chocolate-Chip Cookies - Very rich, you cannot eat more than two tops. These are thin and crispy.

Checkerboard Cookies - I was very impressed that she wanted to tackle these. They are as good as they look.

Chocolate Piped Peanutbutter Cookies - the first peanutbutter cookies I like

Ginger Snap Raspberry Jam Cookies - very gingery

Chocolate Pistachio Biscotti - delicious

I still owe you two recipes. I got dishes to wash today (Dec 26). Lots of ‘em. And laundry to do. And it’s the BIL’s b’day. And tomorrow is a regular Monday.

V, thanks for documenting the saga of the cookies! And I will probably be re-thanking you (and TBHE) for the next 6 months for allowing me to invade and cookie-ify your home nightly for almost a whole week, and for convincing me that the kitchen would not implode if I entered it.

Hope you guys had an awesome Xmas, and hope you’re ready for the V. Long Socks…

    xx
