Some things are the same wherever you live and moving across the Atlantic doesn’t change that. Take this for an example. This is your run of the mill LYS accident. Yup, went to the yarn store to look for something or other. Maybe I found it, maybe I didn’t. But then you get home, and there’s all that other stuff you hadn’t planned on. The stuff you get “just to have on hand”, yarn you haven’t seen before and wouldn’t think of should the right project come along, because, well you didn’t know about it.
OMG! More yarn photography around here! Quick, who can spot the baby?
Last Saturday, life chanced to arrange itself just so, that I may escape into town by myself (!) and go to the yarnstore with the better sockyarn selection. I’d been waiting for this moment for at least two weeks.
I didn’t exactly find what I wanted, but I found some fun, previously unknown stuff. And that’s the thin reason for getting all that, because I certainly do not need to have more sock yarn handy.
On the left: Opal Bambus. Most likely candidate for Loksins!. I’m worried about the variegation hiding the pattern, yes. It might work, though. It’s the best I found without resorting to Regia Silk.
Next, the tweedy looking stuff: Gedifra - I didn’t know they made sockyarn, but who doesn’t these days? Even Collinette jumped on that bandwagon. Sandwiched between the Gedifra Fashion Trend Sportivo (what a mouthfull, and it’s decidedly not sport weight), is Trio. That’s local, too, but this is nothing for Loksins!. I’m thinking I’d like to try some entrelac with this.
At the end, on the right. Uhm, well, uuh. If there’s something I don’t need more of, it’s Lang yarn. It’s not even my favourite sock yarn. Lately, though, I’m finding it very difficult to pass up anything in teal. So, teal JaWoll jumped in my shopping bag.
